“The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.” Psalms 25:14
The bible says that God loves everyone. John 3:16 – He loved the world so much that he gave his only son, so that people could be saved!
However, even though he loves the whole world, the bible says that intimacy with him is not for everyone , but for those who fear him !
What is to fear God ?
It’s living in respect, to be in awe, to live in submission, obeying , honouring Him because He is the only God !
Confidence or Intimacy is sharing secrets, trusting completely, knowing each other deeply, knowing each other’s heart.
This text (Psalm 25:14) reveals to us that God wants to make a covenant with you. (“And He will show them His covenant.”)
Great example of covenant is the marriage! 29 years ago I marry to Fabiana and we made a covenant , an alliance to share our lives together, to respect , to be faithful, to love and walk together till death !
It’s really important we understand what having a covenant means.
Christianity is not religion , its relationship!
You and God can then become intimate.You’ll get to know the most intimate of his heart.
What is your story with God like?
Many started their story with God when they were baptised. But to many people this is just a story that it is in the past. Many people have no testimony or experience with God
But looking at today, How is your story with Him right now?
Our story with him truly begins when we are born again
“Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.”
John 3:5
You are NOT going to enter in the Kingdom of God because you were born in a Christian House or because your parents are saved or because you are part of a Christian Church !
You need to be born again , you need to be born of water and the spirit !
What does it mean to be born of water and the spirit?
How can we be born again? There are 3 basic things:
- When you repent, you abandon your sins, your addictions and your sinful practices
- When you make a covenant with God through the water of baptism and became member of the body of Christ that is the Church. (we believe in the baptism of immersion , not baptism of children)
- When you receive the Holy Spirit inside you and The Holy Spirit starts guiding your life.
And this is just the beginning of your story with Him. From now on it will be in a love story!
Everyone who has been born again has the chance to write their own story.
You need to write down your own story with the Lord!
But many don’t want to work on their stories with God, they only have an empty religion!
Many come to church to receive from God, they come just after blessings and God’s grace ! And God does bless people, people are healed in our church!
It’s very easy for me to pray and place my hands over someone, to transfer a gift that God gave us through his grace to be used in the ministry.
But it’s impossible to transfer , to give others the story I have with God!
Everyone has to write their own stories with God. And you can only write your story in the secret place !
You have the responsibility of developing your own personal story by paying a price in the secret place.
Your story with him is only shaped in your quiet time with him. We can build our story with him through intimacy!
Matthew 6:6 “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
Jesus taught us that the act of prayer should be intimate.
You go into your room and lock the door because you are going to have an intimate time with him.
You can get good advice in church from the word of God
but your story with him will only be shaped in he secret place, in your intimate time with the Lord. Where no one is seeing you ! It’s just you and him.
There is a great reward for those who seek Him in secret !
God has secrets and his secrets is for those who fear him !
The Lord tells his secrets to his followers. He teaches them about his agreement.
I started my own story with God 35 years ago, and I can say it has been a wonderful path, full of miracles and wonders by the power of God.
Nevertheless, the path that will take you to create your story with God will not be an easy one
Because intimacy, maturity and growth only come through crises and troubles.
The worse and most difficult moments in my life were also the ones where I experienced the most miracles and came closer to God.
I remember it very clearly the first time I heard God’s voice. God literally spoke to me out loud, in a audible voice
That is not how God usually talks to me. He always does it with his word! The Bible , But this time was a very special one.
But this was also a time of crisis and it wasn’t easy.
That time , I was serving God, being faithful to him but my faith was put to proof.
All the troubles I faced led me to having more intimate time with God and this is where my story with him was being developed
Many times you will not understand what you are going through. It may even cross your mind that God has forsaken you.
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley (Valley of death) I will fear no evil.”
Psalm 23:4
Many people go through hard times but their life does not change.
This is because they don’t develop an intimate life with God but just have a religious one instead.
Whenever you are having problems, go to God’s presence but not just to ask him for help or complain or to ask Him why you are suffering !
Because many leave Gods presence in the same way they got in.
Go to the Lord’s presence and stay there till he talks to you through his word or in your spirit.
Only then you’ll leave your room in a different way you came in.
I’ve experienced many miracles in my life and prayed for many people who were healed – but the most important to me is my relationship with him !
In 1985 I had an encounter with God and his Word, he spoke to me and it changed my life !
I was persecuted by my parents because I became believer ! I was rejected by my family and I was prohibited to read the bible in my house! It was not easy time!
Sometimes tragedies and crisis come over our lives and many seek the help of people next to them first and only then they remember going to God. But it should be the opposite!
I believe in looking for advice. I seek other people’s advice myself and I love giving people advice!
But there are people who never learn to rely on God and to seek him first.
They don’t develop their personal story with God. These are people who don’t have an intimate personal life with God.
You need to get your bible and stay in his presence until he speaks to you. God I need to hear from you. When he speaks nothing will be the same again.
“In the same way, my words leave my mouth, and they don’t come back without results. My words make the things happen that I want to happen. They succeed in doing what I send them to do.”
Isaiah 55:11
When He speaks you are secure because His Words don’t come back without results.
A very import point and something you need to understand is that:
It was very rare the times that I received a Word from God and instantly left my room with the problem solved.
Usually I leave the room and my quiet time with God with the same problem I had when I got in. But now, something else is different, I have a word to hold onto, I have an anchor. An answer.
I’ll hold onto that word and believe in it, and I start thanking him for the miracle. I praise the Lord and his name. Only then the miracle will come.
I can give you my testimony, I can tell you what happened to me.
I can share with you what I read in the scriptures. But you have to hear from God yourself to know what he has for you.
You can say: The bible has promises of God for me! That sounds very beautiful but it doesn’t work like that !
Every person in the bible had a different story, they heard different things from God.
Your identity comes from listening to the voice of God. You have to keep reading till you hear what God has for you !
“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ””
Matthew 4:4
Everything was created by the voice of God. Life comes from his voice. Whenever he speaks, He has the power to create life in you!He speaks to us!
God will use times of hardship and tragedy so you can hear his voice !
If we don’t seek him during crisis, we will never seek him in our success
We have to learn how to be faithful during troubles and rely on Him. Your story with God can only be developed in your quiet time with him, and you have to do it yourself !
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13
