We are in our series “The Power of the Blood,” and today I will share the fourth and final message of this series: Deliverance and Protection from the Hand of the Enemy.
What was the price of our rescue? The immense power of our freedom!
You were bought at a high price! You are saved by grace, but your salvation was not cheap; every single drop of Jesus’s blood was steeped in suffering.
There is no gospel without the Blood! The Blood of Christ is the foundation of Christianity; it is the reason for our salvation, for all that we are, and for all that the Church represents. It was this suffering, this shedding of innocent blood, that gave birth to the Church, that called us – people of different nationalities, languages, and colours, yet one body, united. The reason for our existence as the Church is the Blood that was shed.
The Blood of Jesus was poured out for everyone, for each of you, for me, for your families, for this nation. It was shed not only for our eternal salvation but for the healing of our physical, emotional, and spiritual illnesses, and for complete deliverance from every prison that tries to hold us captive.
However, my heart often saddens to see that, despite such a high price being paid, despite this freedom being available to all, many still walk as if they are chained. Many live in prisons of fear, addictions, illnesses, guilt, and despair, simply because they have not yet had a deep revelation of the transforming power of the Blood of Jesus. We were indeed set free, but due to a lack of understanding and faith, we live in captivity.
“To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His BLOOD, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to Him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.” Revelation 1:5-6 NIV
One day I was meditating on this passage from Revelation 1:5, and God gave me a vision and revelation of this verse: I saw a cage, there was a bird inside the cage, its food was all spoilt and sour, but the bird was eating that food. However, the cage door was completely open; it could leave, fly, and eat fresh food, but it remained inside the cage!
God told me that many Christians find themselves in this captivity: “I love them; by the Blood, they were freed from their sins, the prison door has been open, but they are still inside, eating spoilt food and drinking dirty water.”
The Blood was shed, the door is open, you are free. Take hold of your deliverance, for God has appointed you a priest who will reign on this earth.
In this final message of our series, my deepest desire and prayer is that God’s Holy Spirit would open our spiritual eyes. May He grant us a fresh and impactful revelation of the magnitude and scope of this sacrifice.
May we not only hear about the Blood but experience the power of the Blood, breaking chains, restoring vision, and enabling us to live a full life, with the freedom that Christ won for us. May the Power of the Blood of Jesus manifest supernaturally among us.
Today, we will look at a crucial and profoundly practical aspect of the Blood’s power: its active role in our deliverance and protection from the hand of the enemy. It is one thing to know that the Blood redeems; it is another to live daily in the freedom and security it guarantees.
Our foundational scripture from Revelation continues to be our anchor:
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Revelation 12:11 NKJV
Notice the key phrase: “They Overcame him.” Who did they overcome? Who is “him”? The same chapter, in verse 10, identifies him as satan “the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night.” Revelation 12:10
Satan, the enemy, is real, and his agenda is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). But the Blood of Jesus provides our ultimate victory over him!
Today, we will explore how the Blood of Jesus breaks the enemy’s power over our lives, bringing deliverance, and how it establishes an impenetrable protection around us.
Hereditary Family Curse
Perhaps you don’t believe it, but hereditary curses exist! And I have helped many people to be freed from these curses.
There are families that, for generations, have been afflicted by the same devastating pattern: recurrent addiction – alcohol, gambling, or drug abuse – that spreads through each generation, destroying lives and leaving a trail of destruction.
Families where marriages don’t last, relationships keep getting broken; families where the grandmother was a prostitute, the mother is a prostitute, and the daughter is on the same path; divorce or chronic illness that seems to follow the family tree.
People try everything – therapy, self-help, sheer willpower – but the cycle persists. They long for deliverance but feel powerless. I see people within churches, with these same struggles, still held captive.
The good news is that the Blood of Jesus has the power to break each of these chains. The Blood is the definitive antidote to every curse, every captivity, and every scheme of the enemy.
Part 1: Blood for Deliverance – Breaking Every Chain
The Blood of Jesus is not just for the forgiveness of our sins; it also actively breaks the enemy’s dominion over our present and future.
- Rescued from the Dominion of Darkness
Colossians 1:13-14 (NIV): “For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
Before Christ, we lived under the “dominion of darkness.” This was not just a philosophical idea; it meant we were under the authority and influence of evil spiritual forces. Whether chronic addiction, oppressive fear, uncontrollable anger, or destructive habits – these are often manifestations of the enemy’s dominion.
The Freed Prisoner – Think of a prisoner of war. Captured, chained, and living under the control of his enemies. But then, a rescue operation happens. He is rescued, freed, physically removed from the enemy camp, and taken to the freedom of his own country. He is no longer under their dominion.
That’s what the Blood of Jesus does! He doesn’t just offer forgiveness; he actively rescues us from that dominion. He takes us out of Satan’s camp and transfers us into the Kingdom of Light, where Jesus reigns. For every addiction (whether cigarettes, alcohol, pornography, or immorality), every stronghold of fear, anxiety, depression – the Blood paid the price for your rescue! You have been set free!
- Rescued from the Curse of the Law
Galatians 3:13-14 (NIV): “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.’ He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.”
The “curse of the law” refers to the consequences of not perfectly obeying God’s law. This includes spiritual, physical, and financial barrenness, sickness, and death – all things that came into the world because of sin. Jesus, by dying on the cross, became the curse for us. He took everything upon Himself.
The Stamped Document – Imagine a legal document that binds you to a heavy and unpayable debt. It’s a valid contract, and you are obligated. But then, a superior legal authority intervenes. They take the document, boldly stamp it with “NULL AND VOID – PAID IN FULL,” and return it to you. The debt is no longer legally binding. The curse has been absorbed.
The Blood of Jesus has stamped every curse, every generational pattern of defeat, every legal claim the enemy had over your life, with “NULL AND VOID.” It breaks the power of these ancient lineage curses, freeing you to walk in the blessings of Abraham. If there is a recurring negative pattern in your family, you can declare: “By the Blood of Jesus, this ends with me!”
- Deliverance from the Law of Sin and Death
Romans 8:1-2 (NIV): “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
The “law of sin and death” is like spiritual gravity. It pulls us down, making it impossible to escape the cycle of sin, guilt, and death by our own strength. But the Blood of Jesus introduces a new and superior law: the “law of the Spirit who gives life.”
The Blood of Jesus activates the law of the Spirit within us, giving us supernatural power to overcome the pull of sin. It frees us from the compulsion to sin, empowering us to walk in newness of life. You are not condemned! You are free from the dominant power of sin and death!
Part 2: The Blood for Protection – Establishing Impenetrable Boundaries
Beyond breaking chains, the Blood of Jesus establishes a powerful shield of protection around us.
- The Blood as a Mark of Ownership and Protection (Passover Revisited)
Exodus 12:13 (NIV): “The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike the land of Egypt.”
We saw this last time. The blood on the doorframes was a visible sign, a divine boundary. The destroyer had to pass over.
Illustration: The Secure Perimeter – Imagine a high-security facility. It might be surrounded by strong walls, electric fences, surveillance cameras, and armed guards: what is inside is protected; what is outside cannot enter. The enemy tries to invade, but fails.
The Blood of Jesus marks you, your home, your family, and this church as belonging to God. It is a divine perimeter, invisible yet powerful. When the enemy, the destroyer, approaches, he sees the mark of the Blood, and he must pass over. He cannot legally touch what is covered by the Blood of Jesus. This protection extends to your children, your marriage, your finances, your health, and your ministry.
- The Blood as Our Defence Against the Accuser
Revelation 12:10 (NIV): “Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: ‘Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.'”
Satan’s primary weapon is accusation. He tries to turn God against us, and he tries to make us feel guilty, unworthy, and condemned, so that we turn away from God’s presence.
The Dismissed Case – Imagine the courtroom scenario again. The accuser presents his case against you, detailing every flaw, every sin. You are defenceless. But then, your Advocate, Jesus, steps forward. He does not deny the accusations; instead, He points to the Blood. He says: “My Blood was shed for these very sins. The price has been paid. The penalty has been absorbed.” Because of the Blood, the judge, God the Father, dismisses the case. The accusations are baseless.
The Blood of Jesus silences every accusation from the enemy. It is our perfect defence. When Satan whispers lies of condemnation, you can boldly declare: “By the Blood of Jesus, I am forgiven, I am righteous, I am protected! Your accusations are nullified by the Blood!”
Practical Application: How to Live in This Deliverance and Protection
So, how do we actively experience this deliverance and protection in our daily lives?
- Confess the Blood Daily (Your Hyssop): Just as we learned weeks ago, our confession is fundamental. Articulate your deliverance from specific captivities. Declare protection over yourself, your family, your finances, your health, your ministry, and your church.
- “By the Blood of Jesus, I am freed from [name the addiction/fear/habit]!”
- “By the Blood of Jesus, my family is protected from every evil scheme of the enemy!”
- “By the Blood of Jesus, every generational curse in my lineage is broken!”
- “By the Blood of Jesus, my mind is protected from oppressive thoughts!”
- Renounce the Enemy’s Claim: Actively and audibly renounce any dominion the enemy might have over areas of your life. When a negative thought, fear, or temptation arises, speak to it and say: “I renounce you, Satan, by the Blood of Jesus! I am covered by His Blood!”
- Walk in Obedience and Surrender: The Blood works in conjunction with our willingness to walk in the light. Continually surrender areas of your life to Christ. As you obey, the power of the Blood flows more freely, establishing stronger protection.
- Live as a Freed Child: You are no longer a slave! You are a child of God, bought with a price. Walk with the confidence, joy, and peace of someone who is truly free and deeply protected.
Conclusion: A Secure Fortress
My dear friends, the Blood of Jesus is your secure fortress. It is the unbreakable wall around your life, your family, and your destiny. The enemy may prowl, but he cannot penetrate the perimeter established by the Blood.
No addiction is too strong, no generational curse too ancient, no fear too deep for the Blood of Jesus to break its power. And no attack from the enemy can succeed against a life truly covered by His Blood.
Remember Revelation 12:11: We overcome the enemy by the Blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony! The Blood provides the power; your testimony activates it.
I challenge you this week: live consciously under the Blood. May it be your battle cry, your shield, your declaration of freedom! You are not just redeemed; you are delivered and protected!
