God’s Secret Book: Discovering Your True Identity Through the Holy Spirit

“However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love Him”

1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV

By reading this verse in the Word of God, we clearly see that no one can discern your human capacity, spiritual abilities, ministry, or the calling that God has for you! This verse indicates that all your teachers, counsellors, including your father and mother, are made redundant.

God said: No one knows the secret I have about you!

When you study this chapter of the Bible, it will liberate you from the opinions of others.

Eyes have not seen, ears have not heard, nor has it entered into the mind of any person what God has planned for you. Is this not good news? This frees you from people who try to fit you into a box and those who have words of condemnation for your life.

These verses we read say that if you failed last week or last month, you are not there yet. There is still a plan for you! It just hasn’t been fulfilled yet.

If you lost something, if you fell into some sin, if your business crumbled, if things went wrong. That was just one part of you.

However, God’s secrets and God’s plans continue to be written about you!

Because no one has ever conceived what God has in store for them. Can you see how this frees you from people’s opinions?

But now here’s the most important thing, since no one knows, and only God has “all the information about you”, let’s read verse 10 (the next statement is important. Underline it in your Bible.)

“These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.”

1 Corinthians 2:10 NIV

But God revealed the information to us by His Spirit (Spirit with a capital S). Whenever you read “Spirit” in the Bible beginning with a capital S, it is not referring to the human spirit. It is referring to the Holy Spirit of God.

Now note, the information about you: The elders don’t know, the authorities don’t know, your friends don’t know, your parents don’t know. Society doesn’t know. No one knows, but there is only one person who knows.

What’s even more important is that the person who knows wants you to know it too.

God doesn’t want the secret about you to remain a secret and the only person who knows is God Himself, but He wants to reveal it to you.

So, the key to the kingdom’s secret about you – is the “Holy Spirit”.

That’s why we need the Holy Spirit and we need to have a close relationship with Him. Because without the Holy Spirit, you will be living a life you’re not meant to.

“Without a close relationship with the Holy Spirit, God’s book about you remains unread and unlived.”

The sad news is that many are living a miserable life for not having a relationship with the person of the Holy Spirit!

Without the Holy Spirit, you are busy doing things you were not born to do. Without the Holy Spirit, you are misusing your energy, time, talents and gifts.

Only the Holy Spirit can reveal the secret about you to yourself! (This chapter is incredible.)

Jesus came as a man to this Earth and as a man He was anointed and guided by the Holy Spirit,

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.”

Acts 10:38 NIV

Jesus performed miracles not because He was God, but because He was anointed with the Holy Spirit!

Do you remember Jesus talking to his parents one day (earthly parents), when they found him in the temple and said: What are you doing here?

“Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom. After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. After three days they found Him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. Everyone who heard Him was amazed at his understanding and His answers. When His parents saw Him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.” “Why were you searching for me?” He asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?””

Luke 2:41-43, 46-49 NIV

Why did you do this to us? Jesus’ answer was: Didn’t you know? (That’s an interesting question). He was saying to His mother and father: Didn’t you know?

In other words: Even my parents don’t know what I was born for, only the Spirit can reveal that.

“these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.”

1 Corinthians 2:10 NIV

Observe this statement. The secrets are hidden in the depths of God. So, the key to life is, how do you reach out to God to get the truth about you? How can you know?

Oh, the answer is beautiful, only the Spirit knows. The Bible says that the deep secrets are within the Spirit of God. Only the Spirit knows the deep things of God.

I have an image of this in my mind all the time. Here’s the image I have in mind. I can see God as this beautiful and incredible being, and inside Him is this whole sea of information about you.

And for you to get the information, you have to somehow find someone who can enter into God, dive deep and swim around to find information about You, and then come back to the surface, come out of God and say, here’s what I found about you.

(I keep imagining this when I read this verse). The Bible says, The Spirit “searches”!

He goes down into God. Remember, the secrets are out there, hidden in the depths of God. It says that only the spirit can go down to the depths of God and find and search. Look again at I Corinthians 2 verses 10 and 11.

“These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.”

1 Corinthians 2:10-11 NIV

It says: The Spirit “searches” all things, even the depths of God.

Now Paul is using an example here. He says, in the same way that, “No one knows you like yourself”, because only you could “go down into yourself” and know the truth about you.

You know exactly the real truth about yourself and only you can speak about yourself.

So, the spirit of a person knows what is inside them. You know very well what is inside you and what you have done before!

Observe this now. He says in the same way, no one knows the deep things of God, except the Spirit of God.

This means that: The only one who can know the thoughts of God is the one who can go down into God and obtain the thoughts of God.

Say: “thoughts”. God’s secret wisdom is called “God’s thoughts”.

There are some thoughts that God had about you that made Him create you.

(Let me try to connect what I’m teaching with the scriptures so you can understand what I’m talking about).

Turn with me to the book of Psalms 139 (a very interesting and beautiful Psalm). This is a psalm about you. David in Psalm 139 makes a statement that is very appropriate in this context we are studying.

13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!”

Psalms 139:13-17 NIV

Verse 16 – That’s why God hates abortion!

Before you came into the world, God planned you, you may not have been planned by your father and mother, but you were planned in God’s heart!

You are the fruit of God’s dream and plan!

And in His BOOK, all my days, each one of them were written and determined, when none of them yet existed.

I know what’s going through your mind now: If God wrote and determined all my days, why did I go through so much suffering? Why was I abused? Why did my parents get divorced? Why did my marriage fail? Why did I lose people I love so much?

The answer is simple: God has His plans, but He gave us free will. Our choices and the choices of evil people destroy our lives! He came for us to have an abundant life but we live in an evil world and as a result of that, we suffer so much.

Example: I have good plans for my daughters, only good plans, but their choices will determine their future.

God finished the story of my life before it began. He wrote an entire book about me and finished it, and then, He gave me life. And that book is full of thoughts about me.

If you read the last statement that I didn’t read, verse 18 says: If I tried to understand God’s thoughts, it would be like trying to count the grains of sand on the beach.

In other words, what God thinks about me is so incredible that it is impossible for me to calculate, understand and comprehend it!

Let me give some simple examples:

You work in a factory as a cleaner. You think you have a good job, and God is thinking in His thoughts that you are the manager of the factory. In other words, God’s thoughts are always superior to your thoughts about yourself.

You may be happy being just a believer who comes to church on Sundays, but in God’s plans, He planned for you to be one of the church leaders.

You live in a rented house and you are happy, but God may have in His plans that you have your own house.

There are many people who are sitting on the church bench, doing nothing, but in God’s heart and in His plans, they are pastors, evangelists, leaders, intercessors who do not know God’s thoughts.

No one knows the thoughts of God, except the Spirit of God.

So, the key to all this is the Holy Spirit. The key to living the dreams God planned for you is your relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Look again at First Corinthians, chapter two, verse 12. Please underline this in your Bible,

“What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.”

1 Corinthians 2:12 NIV

Why did He give us the Holy Spirit?

So that we could understand what God has given us freely.

He is telling us the purpose of the Holy Spirit is not for you to have a good time in a meeting or to feel happy under the anointing. I mean, all that is wonderful. I’m not against it, but that’s not why He came.

It says that the Holy Spirit was given to you so that you can “know and understand what God has given you freely”.

In other words: The Holy Spirit came to give you something free that God wanted you to have, and this is the information about you.

That’s why it’s important for you to have and cultivate a daily relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Many of us ignore the Holy Spirit, grieve the Holy Spirit with our lifestyle, and that’s why we live a miserable life that is not the plan determined by God in His book.

I have to be constantly aware of the Holy Spirit living inside me because He keeps telling me the truth about myself.

What do people say about you?

People say you won’t have a good future, but what does the Holy Spirit say?

People call you fat. What does He say? People call you stupid. What does the Holy Spirit say? People call you lazy. What does He say? People say you’ll never make it. What does He say? Oh, you’re too far gone. What is He telling you?

If you don’t listen to the Holy Spirit, you will believe what they say.

God gave you the Holy Spirit so that you could understand why God created you, and what He gave you freely. (Oh, I love this).

The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to reveal the truth about ourselves to us. That is the purpose of the Holy Spirit.

How many want to live God’s dreams? How many want to fulfil God’s calling on this earth?

The key is in your relationship with the Holy Spirit!

May God bless you!
