More Than Faith: Encountering the Power of the Creator

I want to start this message by asking you to reflect and think about the beauty and the splendour of everything around us, this world filled with wonders and complexities. How did all of this come to be? How did it all begin?

Believing in God as the Creator isn’t just a matter of faith, but also a logical response to our existence.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”Genesis 1:1

In the beginning, God created! This verse declares the divine origin of everything. It states that God is the supreme Creator, responsible for the existence of the universe and our planet. It establishes the foundation for understanding creation as an intentional act of God, giving purpose and meaning to all of existence. It’s the starting point for faith and exploring the relationship between God and humanity.

Illustration: Imagine a Rolex watch (Rolex Daytona, £60,000). No one would think it appeared on its own, by chance. In the same way, the universe and life are infinitely more complex and require a Creator.

Look around you: at nature, the beaches, the fish, birds, animals, planet Earth, human relationships, life itself, how a baby is born and formed. None of this came from nothing.

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.” – Acts 17:24-25

All of us here today in this church, those watching me online, you are not a product of chance. This world and everything in it was created by God. You may not have been planned by your mum and dad, but you were planned by a God who exists, is real!

You might ask: “How can you guarantee this, Pastor?” My personal answer is: Because I have met Him, I’ve had an encounter with Him. He transformed my life. I’ve experienced His power, His grace, His miracles, and I can guarantee that He is real and can do the same for you and your family.

I have a piece of fruit here with me. How many of you know if it’s sweet or sour? You’ll only know if you try it! Don’t try to judge it by appearances or the experience of others! Only after you eat this fruit can you tell me if it’s good or not, sweet or sour.

“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” – Psalm 34:8

Many don’t know God because they haven’t tasted Him. I lived many years of my life like that, without knowing God, without relating to Him, but one day I had an encounter with Him. After I tasted and saw how good, beautiful, tremendous, and powerful He is, my life now has a purpose.

Only if you experience it will you know Jesus, and you’ll fall in love with Him. Oh, taste and see!

Don’t believe me! Because my faith doesn’t serve you! The Bible says: “The righteous shall live by faith!” Each of you needs to have your own faith, develop it, and make it grow! Faith is unique, personal, and non-transferable. Only by experiencing it yourself will you know that God is real, God is a miracle-working God, that God is good and merciful.

How do you prove that God exists, Pastor? This world, nature, and everything that exists proves the existence of God.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” – Psalm 19:1

Picture the planet. The heavens, the earth, declare the glory and existence of God. And the skies proclaim the works of His hands and declare that God is real.

Be intelligent! Nothing came from nothing! You’re here because of your mum and dad. This pulpit is here because someone built it. The chair you’re sitting on only exists because someone created it!

Where did this Earth come from, so perfect, with a circumference of 40,000 kilometres? It’s a perfect clock with two movements: rotation and translation.

Rotation is the movement around itself, at a speed of 1,660 km/hour, and the duration of this movement is 24 hours, giving us day and night.

Translation is the movement the Earth makes around the sun, and this orbit measures about 930 million kilometres and is completed in 365 days.

We’re all on a giant ball spinning at a speed of 1,660 km/hour.

If you say that this Earth came from nothing, that all of this was created by chance, you have a lot of faith! You have more faith than I do. I always say to atheists that they have more faith than I do, because believing that everything came from God needs less faith than believing that all this arose from nothing.

  1. The Foolishness of Denying Divine Creation

Denying the existence of a Creator is ignoring the fundamental logic of cause and effect.

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” – Romans 1:20

God’s invisible qualities, His power, and His nature are clearly seen in everything that exists. The universe and nature show that there is a great architect, and that is why people have no excuse for not serving God.

Thinking that the universe came from a random explosion, without planning or purpose, is like believing a hurricane in a scrapyard could assemble a Boeing 747.

The ‘Big Bang’ theory may explain the expansion of the universe, but it doesn’t explain the origin of the matter and energy that started it all.

Consequences of Denial:

When we deny the existence of a Creator, we lose our sense of purpose and meaning in our lives. Without that connection, life becomes a relentless search for meaning in worldly activities, often leaving an existential void.

The consequence is the loss of a moral and spiritual compass, resulting in choices guided only by momentary impulses, fleeting pleasures, or relative values. This lack of purpose leads to dissatisfaction, the search for fulfilment in fleeting things, and ultimately, a sense of hopelessness and disconnection from the universe.

  1. The Unshakable Logic of Creation

There’s a very old philosophical principle that says: “Ex nihilo nihil fit” – from nothing, nothing comes.

This Latin phrase means that nothing arises from nothing. Everything that exists has a cause, an origin.

Just as a house needs a builder, a painting needs a painter, a cake needs a baker, the universe and life need a Creator. That Creator is God.

From nothing, nothing comes. This is a fundamental law of physics and logic.

If we exist, if the universe exists, then something or someone with infinitely greater power and intelligence created us.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:14

You are a masterpiece of God! God’s works are wonderful, that’s why you are so beautiful!

A painter creates a work of art. An architect designs a building. In the same way, God created the universe with a specific design and purpose.

Other scientific examples: the complexity of DNA, the precision of physical laws, the incredible biodiversity – all point to an intelligent Creator.

  1. God Created and Formed Us

God didn’t just create; He formed us with love, care, and purpose.

“But now, this is what the Lord says – he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.'” – Isaiah 43:1

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” – Genesis 1:27

All these verses clearly tell us that God formed us, created us in His image. You were planned by God, and He has had beautiful plans for you even before you were born! Some people ask me: What is God like? What is God’s physical form? Is He big, an old man of millions of years, what’s He like?

Look to the side, look in the mirror, you were created in His image.

He created you in His image! Let me illustrate this:

What is this that I have in my hand? It’s a glove.

A glove was made in the image of a hand, right? The five fingers, so that a hand can fit inside the glove. And with the hand, the glove is useful, and you can use it, and it has a purpose. But without the hand, the glove is lifeless. Does that make sense?

In the same way, we were created in the image of God, so that God can live inside of us. With God, we have purpose, we are filled with His power, His strength, and without God, we are spiritually dead!

I was made in the image of God so that God can live inside of me and give me purpose.

Each of us is unique, with specific talents and gifts. This is a testimony to God’s individual care in creation. God created this world, gave us a purpose, and one day there will be accountability.

  1. The Day of Accountability

One day, we will all give an account of our lives to God.

“Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgement.” – Hebrews 9:27

“And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.” – Revelation 20:1

Imagine a manager who must give an account of their management to the company owner. In the same way, we are stewards of the life that God has given us.

How many here agree that there is a Creator? If He exists, one day we will have to give an account of our stewardship.

Prepare for that day, living according to God’s principles and serving Him with all your heart.

  1. We are Called to Service and Worship

Thanking, worshipping, and serving God is the natural response to His creation and love.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” – Deuteronomy 6:5

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself.” – Matthew 22:37-39

If He created us, we need to love Him, serve Him with all our heart. How? By serving in the church, helping those in need, sharing the Gospel, financially supporting His Kingdom, living a life of integrity and honesty.

Serving God isn’t a burden but a joy and a privilege. We need to make this decision.

The existence of God is an evident truth, demonstrated by logic, by creation, and by our own existence. Serving Him is the wisest and most rewarding response.

Make a conscious choice to recognise God as your Creator and Saviour. Dedicate your life to serving Him and loving your neighbour.

May God bless you and may you serve Him with all your heart.
