In the book of II Kings there is a man by the name of Elisha. One day Elisha’s servant walks out on the porch and sees that the Assyrians have completely surrounded the house of the prophet and they have come to kill and assassinate him.
“The servant of the man of God got up early the next morning. He went out and he saw an army with horses and chariots all round the city. ‘Oh, my master, what can we do?’ the servant asked Elisha.” 2 Kings 6:15
The servant of Elisha turned to him and said: my master, what can we do?
How many times do we find ourselves in circumstances that makes us afraid and we don’t know what to do next?
Let’s hear the answer of someone who had vision and open spiritual eyes.
“So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”” II Kings 6:16
The servant looked around and said: What are you talking about? We are completely surrounded!
Then Elisha prayed this powerful prayer.
“And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
II Kings 6:17
This is why we always need guidance and the prayer of our leaders. His leader prayed: Lord open the eyes of my servant and suddenly his spiritual blindness was gone.
The Lord opened his eyes and the young man saw horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
What I’m saying to you is: When God opens your eyes you can see things that you were blind to, when God opens your eyes you can see provision, when God opens your eyes you can see the right direction, when God opens your eyes you can see His protection. The unseen becomes real. Sometimes God has to open our eyes to the fact that we are protected.
If you could see how many evil forces are following you around, you would be terrified.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
I Peter 5:8 NKJV
We are in a spiritual warfare and there are demon forces that want to destroy your life, your health, your marriage, your ministry and God’s calling for your life.
They are all around us waiting for an opportunity to attack. If you could see how many enemy forces, if somehow God would open your eyes, it would terrify you to how many demons follow your children.
I know people get uncomfortable and don’t like it when we talk about demons, but if Jesus cast them out, they are still around. If we could see the spiritual battle that is around us, around our families, it would petrify most of us.
Many times I had to face demons, I had to drive out demons from possessed people and there were also many instances where God allowed my eyes to open up and I saw all these spiritual beings that come to kill, steal and destroy.
I love the fact that when Elisha servant’s eyes opened up he saw that those who were with them were more numerous than those who were with the enemy.
He saw angels, he saw horses and chariots of fire that were surrounding the man of God and they smoked the army and blinded the men. Elisha then took the whole army into his captivity and drove them to the king of Israel because they were blind.
I still believe in divine protection, I still believe that the only reason that I’m standing here today is because of God’s protection.
I know demons are all around but the angels are more and the wall of fire of God is around me.
The great problem is that there are many Christians that are sleeping spiritually, they are lukewarm, they are in love with this world and are blind. They only feed themselves of this world , they spend hours on tv, watching movies, shows and series on Netflix and listening to worldly, secular music and that’s the reason many of them are blind and in need.
Some of you have no idea what kind of warfare you are in the middle of. We need to turn to the Lord in repentance for loving this world too much and pray: Lord I’m blind, open my eyes.
Listen to me: Your time with God, your time of prayer, your time reading the Bible , your time attending Conqueror School, your time at Bible Study on Saturday, God will use your pastor, your leader and your commitment to open your eyes and give you protection.
When you surrender to the Lord and submit yourself to the leadership of your leader then your eyes will be opened.
This protection is not a given, this spiritual protection is not granted to you because you are member of a church.
““Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him.”
Psalms 91:14-15
Because you have set your love upon Me, says the Lord: Then you will see chariots of fire over your children, chariots of fire around your marriage, chariots of fire around your ministry, chariots of fire around your future plans.
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
Psalms 91:1
When you surrender to the Lord, when you go to the secret place, “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find protection.”
“For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go.” Psalms 91:11
I know the enemy would love to kill me and my family but they can’t touch me, there is a blockade around us, the angels of the Lord encamp around me.
There is nothing more powerful than the blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit in your life!
Don’t forget we are all in a spiritual warfare and I know the devil can see us. I remember years ago I saw a demon in my bedroom after delivering a person from demons. But I have learned through the Bible that when I see demons or I feel their presence I have to get up and say the Name that is above every name. In the name of Jesus you get out of here, you’re not permitted in this property, this belongs to Jesus! You then will turn over in your bed and they will be gone by the Name of Jesus.
My family and my house are surrounded and protected.
I want to talk another passage in Number 22 that tells of someone else who had their eyes open. How many of you know the story of Prophet Balaam and the donkey?
There was a great prophet by the name of Balaam. He was a real prophet and a man of God and whoever he prayed over was blessed. But this prophet of God became corrupted at a point in his life and he stopped listening to God.
He was bribed to take money and to curse the people of God.
He got money from a wicked king to curse Israel. Soo he got on his donkey and started down the road to go curse what God had blessed. The Bible says that while he was riding his donkey an Angel from the Lord manifested right in the middle of the road,
“When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord, it pressed close to the wall, crushing Balaam’s foot against it. So he beat the donkey again. Then the angel of the Lord moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn, either to the right or to the left. When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord, it lay down under Balaam, and he was angry and beat it with his staff. Then the Lord opened the donkey’s mouth, and it said to Balaam, “What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?””
Numbers 22:25-28
The donkey could see the Angel but the prophet couldn’t. When the donkey saw the Angel with a sword standing in the middle of the road then the donkey got off the road into an open field.
The prophet became angry trying to make the donkey go back on the road but it wouldn’t budge because it could see the Angel that the prophet was blind to.
The prophet took his staff and started beating the donkey.
God opened the mouth of the donkey and the donkey starter talking to the preacher. The donkey said: why are you beating me?
There must be a reason why I’m trying to turn around! Can you not see the Angel?
The crazy thing is that whenever the donkey started talking to him he answered back!
Listen to their conversation: I’d like to kill you , I’m beating you with my staff but if I had an sword I’d kill you. And so the prophet was carrying on a conversation with his donkey.
If you can understand a donkey talking you might be a donkey yourself.
First the Lord opened the donkey’s mouth and let it speak out, now let’s see what else God opened.
“Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword . So he bowed low and fell facedown.”
Numbers 22:31 NIV
Balaam was fighting the wrong enemy and was heading the wrong direction when he saw the Angel with a sword ready to kill him.
God was keeping him from the Angel of death.
Balaam had his eyes open and he finally saw he was heading the wrong direction.
I’m saying to you that it is not the devil that who’s fighting some of you. Some of you insist on a dream, on your way of doing things and what you want to do with your life and keep on blaming the devil for fighting you but really it could simply be God saying: you surrender completely to have your eyes opened.
The donkey saved the prophet’s life. God can open your eyes when you’re trying to do your own thing, your own way and finally lead you the right direction.
I will close with one more example of when someone had their eyes open in Luke 24.
Jesus had just died and risen again, and there were two disciples walking on the road to Emmaus when Jesus appeared to them and started talking to them. Jesus was walking and talking with them but they did not know He was Jesus.
Jesus was talking to his two discouraged, gloomy, depressed disciples. Finally after walking all day long and talking to Jesus they went for dinner and Bible said Jesus would have kept going but they invited Him to join them. This is another lesson: Jesus only comes home with people who invite him in.
They said: We want you to come into our house and spend the night and when they sat at the table with Him their eyes were opened.
“When He was at the table with them, He took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognised Him. Luke 24:30-31
The disciples were listening but they didn’t know that was Jesus speaking to them. How many times Jesus is trying to talk to us and we do not recognise His voice.
How often we ask Jesus to talk to us, guide us, give us direction and Jesus is there all the time but you don’t even know if He is listening to you. When you didn’t think He cared, when you didn’t think He understood, when you didn’t think He was moving in your life, in your family.
When you couldn’t see Him, He was there all along.
I believe that God has listened to all my prayers, I believe that God planted and brought us here to build His church.
I believe that all my family will be saved, I believe all my children belong to Lord, I believe God will protect you until your eyes are open, he will keep you until your eyes are open. He will protect my children until their eyes are open.
I invite you to pray and ask Him to open your eyes to his provision, to his direction, to his protection, to his revelation.
Just as God opened the eyes of Elisha’s servant, may your eyes be opened to see His protection.
Just as God opened the eyes of Balaam, may your eyes be opened for you to receive direction.
Just as the eyes of Jesus’ disciples were opened, may your eyes be opened.
“By faith Moses left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw Him who is invisible.”
Hebrews 11:27 NIV
Many Christians are giving up because they are not seeing Him who is invisible.
When God open your eyes you can see things that are invisible to other people.
When Jesus open your eyes you can see provision even though you don’t have it in front of you.
By Faith you will see it!
When God opens your eyes you see Him who is invisible.
You will see his protection, you will see the right direction, you will see your child serving the Lord, you will see your family protected and saved even if they are away from the Lord.
May the Lord bless you and open your spiritual eyes.
