Divine healing is not a mystery; it is a principle. Who here has experienced pain or sickness? Amidst affliction, questions arise: “Does God truly care about my pain? Is it His will for me to be healed?” These are human and legitimate doubts that, if left unanswered, can destroy our faith.
Today, I want to bring the light of God’s Word to dispel these shadows. The central point and title of this message come directly from a powerful declaration by the apostle John. In his third letter, chapter 1, verse 2, he writes under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit:
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” 3 John 1:2
This is not merely John’s wish; it is a reflection of the Father’s heart. The aim of this message is to demonstrate, through the Scriptures, that God’s fundamental will is our holistic health — of our soul, body, and spirit — and to teach how the spiritual laws of faith activate this power that has already been made available to us.
1 – God’s Revealed Will: A Father Who Desires the Best for His Children
In order for faith in healing to flourish, it needs fertile ground. This ground is the unwavering conviction of God’s will. Doubt concerning His will is what paralyses faith.
You cannot say you believe boldly on something you actually suspect God might not want to give you.
Therefore, our starting point is to establish, without a shadow of a doubt, that our heavenly Father desires our health.
In Luke chapter 11, Jesus gives us a powerful analogy to help us understand the Father’s heart. He compares us to earthly parents. Think about this: if you have children and have seen them sick, feeling pain, it breaks your heart. As a parent, you would do everything in your power to see them well.
Jesus argues that if we, being “evil” — imperfect, flawed — know how to give good gifts to our children and are distressed to see them ill, how much more will our heavenly Father, who is the perfection of love, desire to give us what is good, including health? Luke 11:13
This point is reinforced throughout Scripture. 1 John 4:8 and 16 declare that “God is love.” It is not merely a characteristic He possesses; it is the essence of who He is. And Galatians 5:6 teaches us that “faith works through love.”
When you grasp the depth of God’s love for you, doubts about His will to heal you begin to disappear. A Father who is love does not delight in seeing His children suffer.
If we establish that God, in His infinite love, wants to heal us, the next logical question is: “How, then, does this power operate in our lives?”
2 – The Mechanism of Healing: Understanding the “Law of Faith”
Many view divine healing as a sovereign and arbitrary act of God, as if He chooses to heal one and not another, based on mysterious criteria.
However, the Bible teaches us that God’s power does not operate randomly. Just as the physical world is governed by immutable natural laws (like gravity or the laws of electricity), the spiritual world also operates under laws established by God. The spiritual world functions through defined spiritual principles, which the apostle Paul calls “the law of faith.”
In Romans 3:27, Paul asks: “Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith.” Romans 3:27 NKJV

There is a “law of faith,” a principle established by God that governs how His power flows. To demystify this, let’s use an everyday analogy: electricity. The analogy of electricity helps us visualise how this law works in practice. God has already done His part, generating and making the power available. Our faith is the mechanism that puts it into action.
- Generation: The electric company has already generated the energy. It’s at the power station, ready. In the same way, God has already generated the power for any and all healing through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Healing is not something we need to convince God to do; He has already done His part. (Isaiah 53:4)
- Distribution: The electric company distributes this energy through cables to your home. The power is there, in the sockets, available 24 hours a day. Likewise, God has already delivered this power to every believer. He dwells within us through the Holy Spirit.
- Activation: Now, here is the crucial point. When you want to turn on the light, you don’t call the electric company begging: “Please, turn on the lights in my living room!” That would be ridiculous. The power has already been generated and distributed; the responsibility for using it is yours. You simply go to the switch and turn it on.
Our faith is the “Spiritual Switch.”
Understanding this truth radically changes our perspective. The responsibility to activate healing is transferred to us. This is not a burden, but an empowerment! Let’s now see how this law of faith worked in practice in the life of a woman in great need.
3 – Faith in Action: The Testimony of the Woman with Blood Issue
The story of the woman with the issue of blood, recorded in Mark chapter 5, is a tremendous testimony! It is a perfect example of how personal faith can connect to God’s power, regardless of external circumstances.
Her situation was dire. In addition to physical and financial suffering, there was an even deeper pain: social and religious isolation. In the Jewish culture of that time, a woman with an issue of blood was considered “unclean.” She could not touch anyone, as it would make them unclean. She could not go anywhere. If she went out in public, she would have to shout “Unclean!” so people would stay away. For 12 years, she had been a social outcast.
Let’s analyse her desperate situation and her decisive response, as narrated in Mark 5:25-29:
“Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.” Mark 5:25-29 NKJV
Amidst this hopeless situation, she heard about Jesus and made a decision based on faith. She made a powerful declaration that became her action: “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
What happened next reveals the “law of faith.” As soon as she touched Jesus, the Bible says that virtue — a real power — came out of Him. Jesus felt this physical force flow to heal her. The power was not released by a conscious decision of Jesus.
Now, I want you to pay close attention to Jesus’ reaction:
“And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”” Mark 5:30 NKJV
This question is deeply revealing. Think about this: God’s power is not just an abstract concept; it is a real, tangible force that affects the physical world. Jesus felt this force flow from Him. And what does this teach us?
The power flowed automatically. Jesus did not evaluate her; He did not measure her to see if she was “worthy.” He didn’t even know who had touched Him! Her faith activated the spiritual law and “accessed” the power that was within Him.
There were two types of touch happening there. Hundreds of people bumped into Him, pushed Him, and touched Him. But this one touch was different.
There was a difference between touching Jesus physically and touching Him by faith. The touch of faith is what accesses the power. The lesson is clear: just as power was in Jesus, available to those who accessed it by faith, the same power resides in us today through the Holy Spirit and it operates by the same laws.
Testimony: My mother’s hand bone healed! She came to me, asked for prayer, and the bone disappeared the next day.
If faith activates power, what can prevent it from flowing?
4 – The Spiritual Insulator: How Unbelief Blocks Power
Understanding the obstacles to healing is as crucial as understanding its catalysts. If faith is the conductor of God’s power, unbelief is the primary spiritual “insulator,” preventing the flow of that very power.
We see this in Jesus’ own life. In Mark 6:5, when He was in His hometown, Nazareth, the Bible says something astonishing.
“Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honour except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marvelled because of their unbelief.” Mark 6:3-6 NKJV
Jesus’ power was limited by their unbelief. The people’s unbelief prevented Him from performing miracles. And why were they unbelieving? Because they despised Him. They said, “Is this not the carpenter’s son? We know His family!” Familiarity bred contempt, and this devaluation became a barrier of unbelief.
Let’s return to our electricity analogy:
- Faith is like the copper wire, an excellent conductor that allows God’s power to flow freely.
- Unbelief is like the rubber casing that wraps around the wire. It is an insulator that prevents the flow of power, even if the source (Jesus) is present and full of power.
Now, a crucial theological point: It is not sin that hinders healing, but unbelief. This is a point of tension; we need maturity to understand and receive this revelation. No one has ever been healed because they were “holy enough.” Romans 5:2 says that “Through FAITH we have access to this Grace”.
However, pay attention: if you live in sin, that sin will harden your heart; it will dull your spiritual senses. It will prevent you from believing in God. Your faith will not be functional. Therefore, although access is by faith, a rebellious lifestyle will create the unbelief that isolates you from God’s power.
Now that we know God’s will, the laws of faith, and the obstacle of unbelief, how can we practically “flip the switch”?
Healing is not a matter of merit, luck, or chance. It is a matter of learning to operate according to the spiritual laws that God Himself has established in His Word.
Conclusion: Assuming Your Authority to Heal
Let’s recap what we have learned:
- God’s will, revealed in His Word and in His character of love, is for you to be in full health.
- God’s power to heal operates according to the “law of faith,” as predictably as electricity.
- Your faith is the “switch” that’s available for you to use and activate this power whenever you want in your life.
- Unbelief is the “insulator” that prevents the flow of power, even when it is available.
With this understanding, we are called to shift from a passive posture of supplication to an active posture of authority. God has not left us as orphans, expecting Him to do everything. He has empowered us.
In Matthew 10:8, Jesus did not say, “Pray that I heal the sick”; He commanded His disciples: “Heal the sick…”
This does not mean we command God; it means He has given us command over the power He has already released, so that we may put it into action.
You have to do something! You have to flip the switch!
Therefore, the final appeal today is an invitation to action. Stop merely asking and start acting.
- Decide to Believe the Word: Make a conscious choice today. Decide that God’s Word is the final truth, above what your feelings, your symptoms, or the medical diagnosis say. Place your complete trust in God’s promise.
- Speak to the Mountain: Jesus taught us in Mark 11:23 to speak to the problem. Instead of just praying to God about your illness, use the authority He has given you. Speak directly to that sickness, that pain, and command it to leave your body in the name of Jesus.
- Act Based on Your Faith: Faith without works is dead. Just as the woman reached out to touch Jesus, take a step of faith. Do something you couldn’t do before, expecting God’s power to meet your action and manifest healing.
God loves you. He is not withholding your healing. The power has already been generated, already distributed, and it is there, within you.
Today is the day to flip the switch. Assume your authority, activate your faith, and receive what has already been purchased for you on the cross.
For, as the Word says, above all things, He desires that you prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
