Spirit, soul and body

I Thess 5.23 “May the God who gives us peace make you holy in every way and keep your whole being: spirit, soul, and body – free from every fault at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

  • Body – you fell , trough the 5 senses- eat, listen, touch, see, smell.
  • Soul – your emotions, feelings, thoughts, personality, character
  • Spirit – it’s your inner part – without God is dead- you can not understand the spiritual things.

Jonh 3.6 “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.”

James 2.26 “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.”

You can not fell your Spirit: and this is a problem in your Christian life.

Jonh 6.63 “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.”

The only way to  discern what is spiritual truth is through the Bible. You can not believe in your emotions, you need to believe in the bible.

James 1.23 “Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.”

2 Cor 5.17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

2 Cor 5.18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:”

Your Spirit is:

  1. Perfect
  2. Mature
  3. Complete as Jesus is
  4. Elevated
  5. Recreated
  6. Righteous ( 1Co 1. 30)
  7. Holy and pure

Gal 4.6 “Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “ Abba, Father.”  7 .So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.”

Rm 8.9 “You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.” ( read the full chapter)

John 4.24 “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.””

Rm 6.3  “Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?  4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

Gal 5.22-24 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”

Renewing your mind

Rom 12.1-2 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2  Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Ephesians 4.17-18 “So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.
v18: They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.”

Rm 8.6 “The mind governed by the flesh  = death, but the mind governed by the Spirit  = life and peace.”

Phil 1.6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Renewing your mind

* Knowledge and understanding of God’s Word:

  • Think spirituality, not carnality
  • Acknowledge every good thing in you
  • A process
